Timeshares are GOOD?
Owning a timeshare has given us the freedom to enjoy spontaneous trips and luxurious stays, proving to be a valuable investment for our family.
A real passion I have is finding amazing deals on travel. As a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 kids), it is expensive to go pretty much anywhere. And we often take my mother-in-law and father-in-law with us on our big trips so finding a place that is large enough to sleep at least 7 becomes challenging.
I know that most people will tell you to not get a timeshare because of the fees. And I am definitely not suggesting you get one. However, at least for my family and our current situation, we definitely use our timeshare multiple times per year, and it has actually saved us a ton of money vs. paying for our trips in cash and booking 2 standard connecting rooms so that we would all fit together. And on the plus size, the units come with a full size kitchen and a washer and dryer inside the unit.
Whenever my family travels, we try our best to utilize our timeshare. Luckily, we are not tied to one location, but rather we have credits that we use to book at different locations. For instance, we have used our timeshare to stay at Las Vegas (Nevada), Maui (Hawaii), Anaheim (California), Orlando (Florida), Scottsdale (Arizona) and South Lake Tahoe.
By using our timeshare, I do not have to worry about spending extra money on housing. In addition, I can save on eating out because we often swing by the local grocery store so we can cook breakfast (and sometimes lunch) at the timeshare.
If you are the type that does not like to travel, then you’re probably not visiting my blog and I definitely would not recommend a timeshare for you. However, if you have a large family and like to go on trips with them, then a timeshare might be an option for you. I personally love the extra space, the ability to cook for myself and my kids instead of trying to stuff leftovers into a pint-sized mini fridge at most hotels, and being able to clean our clothes and not pack dirty clothes home. It’s about personal preference and also about how much money you are willing to spend on housing on those trips.
Until next time,
