Now onto the vacation

Some essentials this mom of 3 recommends for a cruise

Now, onto the Cruise. At the time, my children were 8, 5 and 3 years old. So, of course, what is something that many kids that age are into. Yes, you guessed it, Disney. My girls loved anything that was related to princesses. My son loved Marvel.

On most cruises, the walls are made of metal. And what sticks to metal? But of course, magnets. So on our first cruise with the kids, we made sure to buy a few magnetic hooks, which we used plenty of times to “stick” papers and whatnot to the walls. [such as these, enter link] We also made some of our own magnets to put on the front of our door to make it easier to find. It is fairly easy to make your own magnets with a laser printer [enter magnetic sheet link].

Some other essentials we would recommend for a cruise are:

  1. Closet organizer

  2. Baby powder and brush (if you are visiting the beach). It makes it easy to get that pesky sand off your feet.

  3. Dehydrated laundry sheets (to do your own laundry onboard). Since it’s not a liquid, it won’t count towards that 3-1-1 rule when you are going through TSA.

  4. Costumes. Some cruises have themed nights. For instance, on a Disney Cruise, there is usually a pirates night. I especially look for deals the day after Halloween. I once scored a kids pirate costume at Walmart for less than $10 the day after Halloween.

  5. For sea sickness, I recommend a few remedies. Green apples on board are helpful. Bonine/dramamine/sea bands/and ginger chews or candy are useful. However, we were on the ship for 7 nights and my children did not feel the boat at all.

  6. All-in-one travel plug adapters. Since the ships travel to different parts of the world, the plugs are not all the same USA plugs we are used to.

  7. And it is best to leave the surge protector at home. Instead, opt for a multi-port USB charging station.

Hopefully, the above tips help you on your next cruise.

Until next time,
